Donna Belle Jones – November 29, 1923 – April 26, 2013
Our Mom, Donna Belle Jones went to be with her Lord on April 26, 2013. Belle as she preferred to be called was born in Helvey, Nebraska the fourth child of Harry and Harriett Jacobs. She grew up on a dry land farm during the depression and had very little but made do with what they had, a trait which persisted throughout her life.
Belle attended a country school through 8th grade and then attended High School in Western Nebraska graduating in 1940. That same year she and her family moved to Powell where she met and married Keith Jones in 1943, a union of nearly 60 years.
To this union were born 5 boys in 5 years! She was proud of them all.
Belle worked at Mountain Bell and US West Telephone Company retiring in 1980 after 25 years of service.
After their retirement Keith and Belle spent many years traveling in their motor home and visited all 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with a Panama Cruise.
A faithful member of the Union Presbyterian Church for 70 years, she served in nearly every capacity as Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Sponsor/Supervisor and sang in the choir for more than 50 years.
She and Keith loved camping, snowmobiling, fishing and riding horseback. Her hobbies included gardening, growing flowers, baking, caring for house plants, playing cards and of course spending time with her family.
Belle is survived by four sons, Calvin (Donna) Jones of Worland; Randolph (Beverly) Jones of Sidney, MT; Jeffrey Jones of Billings, MT; and Denman Jones of Grand Junction Co. 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive her along with three sisters, Gwendolyn Baxter, Patricia Jones, and Barbara (Clarence) Werbelow all of Powell and one Brother, Larry (Carol) of Medford OR and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was a loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and “grandma great”. She will be greatly missed.
Belle was preceded in death by son Kenton, husband Keith, great granddaughter Maddalyn Anderson, Her parents and brothers Kermit and Jewell (Jake) Jacobs.
At her wish, cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate Belle’s life will be held at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to Union Presbyterian Church.
