Gary L. Elwood died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Powell Valley Hospital after a short courageous battle with cancer. He was 59.
Gary was born Nov. 18, 1952 in Casper to Lela (Webber) and Lynn Elwood.
He received his Associate’s of Science degree from Northwest College.
Gary married the love of his life, Becky Hughes, on Nov. 13, 1979 in Laramie. The couple made their home in Powell, raising two children, Matt and Kristen.
Gary worked as the president of three corporations and was serving as the president of the Colorado/Wyoming Petroleum Marketers Association.
He enjoyed scuba diving, sky diving and golfing.
Gary attended Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Powell.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Elwood of Powell; parents, Lynn and Lela Elwood of Powell; son Matt (Cassie) Elwood of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter Kristen (Alex) James of Winchester, Calif.; brother Ron (Debra) Elwood of Powell; and sister Sharon Elwood of Sheridan.
A celebration of Gary’s life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 1, at First Southern Baptist Church, on the corner of Gilbert and Madison, with Pastor Jeff McKearney officiating.
Memorial donations can be made to the Community 2 Community Project sponsored by Cornerstone Community Fellowship, 956 W. 7th Street, Powell, WY 82435.

Becky, Matt, Kristen, words can not express how sorry I am for your loss. Becky you were one of my first friends when I moved to Powell and I so cherish your friendship. I pray for your strength in this most difficult time. I wish I could take the pain away as you have so often done for me.. I love you! and will continue to pray for your peace!
