Albert Alexander Nuss, 90, died Sunday, June 7, at Powell Valley Nursing Home.
He was born May 30, 1918, in Millberger, Kans., to Henry and Pauline (Strecker) Nuss. Because of the Great Depression, Albert finished his G.E.D. in his mid-50's. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1941 and served in the Pacific Theater Campaign, Aleutien Islands, Alaska. He served until 1945.
He married Delores (Helen) Radke on May 11, 1948, in Russell, Kans. He was a field mechanic, pumper and field/drilling supervisor for Phillips Petroleum, and they lived in Kansas and Utah, as well as in Mountain View and Worland, Wyo. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Albert was a fisherman, a golfer, coached Little League and Babe Ruth, and enjoyed fast pitch softball.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sisters Esther, Isabella, Josephine, and Doralene, and brothers Paul, Roy, Melvin and Harlen.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Powell, sons Mark (Debbie) Nuss of Powell and Mike (Lisa) Nuss of Kemmerer; sister and brother-in-law Josie and Chuck Marteney of Bushton, Kans., six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2 p.m., at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Worland, with Pastor Lee Wisroth officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Nuss, Cory Nuss, John Nuss, Kyle Sundell, Melbirn Nuss, Jeff Nuss, Jason Nuss, Dean Nuss, and Steve Bushell.
Burial will be at a later date in Millberger Cemetery in Kansas. Memorials may be sent to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 525 S. 6th St., Worland, Wyo. 82401. Thompson Funeral Home of Powell assisted the family.
