Barbara May Jasper died on July 1st, 2025 at the age of 99. She was born in Long Beach, California, May 20,1926, the only child of Fred and Katherine Wilbert.
As a child she loved music and learned to play piano. She even joined her cousin, Andy Williams, for a concert. By 16 she was sneaking into the Coconut Grove in LA, California, to sing with a swing band. One of her good friends was Shirley Temple.
At 18 she married her high school sweetheart, Curtis, who was graduating from the Army Air Corp. flight school in Oklahoma.
She followed Curt traveling the USA for the Air Force for 30 years as a loving, self sacrificing wife and mother to 4 children, Gaye, Diane, Katie, and Fred. These four remember her not only for her love and care but also for her comic wit, shared pearls of wisdom, and eating hot fudge sundaes at Woolworths.
Initially retiring in Texas and later Washington, she and Curt made their final move in 2002 to Powell, Wyoming to enjoy being near family, Katie and Dale Jensvold.
Barbara spoke many times of not fearing death because she knew her Lord had a place prepared just for her (John 14:1-6).
A Bible passage she picked out to accompany her obituary is
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17: " I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For it we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you, by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord himself will descent with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words"
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Curt, being married for 73 years; and by an infant son, Stephen.
She is survived by her children: Gaye Kihorany, Diane Foushee, Katie Jensvold, and Fred Jasper; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place; and arrangements are being made for a memorial service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Powell, at a later time.
