Alma Berniece Miller died on August 11, 2008 in Powell, Wyoming after a lengthy illness. She was 85 years old.

A native of Peru, Iowa, she had moved to Powell, Wyoming from Modesto, California in early 1994.
From the early 1950s until 1993 she resided in several communities of northern California, including 30 years in Modesto. Berniece and her late husband, Dr. Charles S. Miller, who for nearly thirty years was an official with the US Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, were both longtime members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Modesto. They traveled throughout the Untied States over the years and made several foreign trips, as well. For several years in the late 1960s and early 1970s Berniece worked as an elementary school teacher at a private school in Modesto. She was later involved with numerous local volunteer activities including English language tutoring for non-native English speakers.

Berniece was a graduate of Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa with a degree in elementary education. In September 1945, she married Dr. Charles S. Miller, a veterinarian who, at that time, was completing several years of stateside service as an officer in the United States Army during the Second World War.

Berniece is survived by her three children and their spouses: Richard and Jane Miller, of Powell, Wyoming; Ronna and Donald Corsini of Villa Rica, Georgia; and Raymond and Ampika Miller of Davis, California, as well as by seven grandchildren. In addition to her late husband, Charles, she was also preceded in death by all four of her siblings, her parents and grandson, Jonathan Miller (of Powell) A memorial service will be held in Powell at the United Methodist Church on Fri. Aug. 15th at 10:00am with burial taking place in Peru, Iowa.
