David Zuercher

David (Dave) Lee Zuercher of Powell, Wyoming, passed away suddenly on his property on October 11, 2025. He was full of hard work, humor, and a deep love for the land he called home.

Dave was born in Wauseon, Ohio, on July 6, 1944, to Albert and Glada (Greiser) Zuercher. Farming was in his blood from the start. He grew up working the land with his family, in Archbold, Ohio, enjoying country life with his siblings and friends. Dave graduated from Archbold High School in 1962. He then moved to Denver, Colorado in 1965 for military service. Upon completion in 1967, Dave returned to Archbold to farm with his father and brother.

It was in Denver that he met Ann (McClure) Zuercher, and they married on April 6, 1968. Together they raised three daughters—Heidi Jo, and twins Lisa Ann and Leslie Lee. Dave continued to farm with his girls at his side, who spent their childhood swimming in irrigation ditches, setting tubes, and riding in tractors. He also worked in construction, where he became a wizard with heavy equipment; his talent still leaves people in awe. His legacy is literally dug into the soil of Colorado, where he excavated countless basements.

Dave and Ann divorced in 1992, and in March of 1996, he married Rebecca (Becky) Biava. Together they enjoyed riding horses, camping, and building their excavation business, DZ/BZ. In 2003, they pursued their dream of open space and farming and relocated to Powell, Wyoming. Dave was right at home—farming the land and forming deep, lasting friendships in the community.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; mother, Glada; sister, Margaret; and wife, Becky. He is survived by his daughters: Heidi Zuercher, Lisa Zuercher, and Leslie (Zuercher) Orlick (Scott Orlick); his grandson, Brody Orlick; his ex-wife, Ann Zuercher; his sisters, Sharon (Zuercher) Bart and Annabelle (Zuercher) Kratz; his brother, Robert Zuercher; and beloved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loyal companion and dog, Pabst.

Laughter, fun, and wisecracks followed Dave wherever he went. He loved music—especially the Beach Boys—and never missed a chance to dance. A lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan, he shared his love of football with family and friends. He was a regular at the “round table” in Powell, where good chatter was shared and friendships deepened.

Dave was always ready to lend a hand. He adored his girls and grandson and always looked forward to visiting them in Colorado or welcoming them to Wyoming, along with daily rides and rides across the farms with Pabst.

Dave made the best smoked ribs, and his brunches of eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon was always a family favorite- with plenty of butter and jam.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to support local farmers, have a PBR, and the Skyline Café. A memorial and celebration of life will be held in the spring.
