Dorothy Marie French

Dorothy Marie French passed away on Friday November 28, 2008 at the Powell hospital. She was born April 4, 1927, and the only daughter of John and Nettie Rowe. She and Lawrence Lyle French were married on June 6, 1945. She is survived by her husband Lyle, Daughter Judy (Gene) Braten. Sons Larry (Toni) French, Jerry (Rose) French, Tim (Rebecca) French, Glenn (Beth) French. She had 13 Grand children and 8 Great grand children. Dorothy loved hosting Easter egg hunts for her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She also enjoyed the 4th of July parade in Cody with a family barbeque at the farm. When Lyle and Dorothy moved to their homestead on heart Mountain in March of 1950 they had two children. Three of their sons were born in Cody. Dorothy was a 4-H leader and worked at the Park county fair for 30 plus years. She loved to see her garden kids get to go to state fair and do well in garden judging. Dorothy's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at the United Methodist church in Powell Friday December 19, 2008 at 11:00 am. Her remains will be buried in a private family ceremony later. A memorial fund will be established with the 4-H council in her name. The funds will be used for youth leadership training. The address for the 4-H donation is 655 E 5th Powell, Wy. 82435. Dorothy will be remembered as a hard working farm wife. She was an avid supporter of 4-H, and a 58 year member of the Methodist church. Dorothy was an excellent cook and a good mother.
