Eldon Francis Short, 83, died Sept. 25, 2017, at his home in Powell.
Eldon was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Lyman, Nebraska, to Dorothy Brownell and Eldon LeRoy Short. He received education through the eighth grade.
He married Colleen Seiver on March 21, 1953, in Worland. The couple lived in Worland and moved to Powell in 1967.
Eldon served in the U.S. Army and was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Eagles organizations. He was nominated trucker of the year and a member of the American Legion for 50 years.
Eldon enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, football, and spending time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Colleen, daughter Delores Clark, granddaughter Misty Short, and sisters Dixie, Kay and Eldona.
Eldon is survived by daughters Karen Boyles (Bud), Valerie Matiella (Frank), Leslie Kallem (James), Linda Davila (Ben); son-in-law Lester Clarke; brothers Bobby (Gloria), Donnie (Diane), Dean (Sue); sisters Edith Patterson, Doris McGary, Shirley Cooper; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at Thompson Funeral Home in Powell. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Short, Dustin Short, Jesse Davila, Benjamin Davila and Tommy May. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery with military services.
