Funeral services will be held Monday June 29 at 10 AM at the Union Presbyterian Church in Powell for long time Whistle Creek resident, Eva Flona (Losey) Yonts who died Monday June 22 at the Powell Valley Care Center at the age of 94. The Rev. George Pasek will officiate at services at the church followed by burial at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Yonts was born Oct. 8, 1914 in Phillips County, Kansas to Ezra Bernard Losey and Anna Eliza (Bradley) Losey. She was raised in Kansas and educated in the Holcomb County Kansas school system. She married Harold Robert Yonts on July 3, 1934 in Garden City, Kansas. In 1934, Mr. and Mrs. Yonts homesteaded in the Whistle Creek community Southeast of Powell where they resided for more than 60 years. After the loss of her husband in 1998, she spent time with family at the homestead and later in Casper. In April 2004 she moved into the Powell Valley Care Center.
Mrs. Yonts was an example of the classic country homemaker. In addition to raising her family, she spent time gardening, canning and tending to many of the animals. During her years on the homestead she was also active in the Whistle Creek community. Eva wrote a column on the Whistle Creek news for the Powell Tribune and the Lovell Chronicle. She also busied herself by staying active in the Whistle Creek Women's Club, Farmers Union, Naomi Rebekah Lodge No. 36, and the Whistle Creek Community Church under the direction of Rev. Stanley Evans and later by Rev. Ray Nott.
Survivors include 4 sons, Robert (Barb) Yonts of Casper, Larry Yonts of Powell, Dean (Kathy) Yonts of Scottsbluff, Nebr, and Delmer (Peggy) Yonts of Grant-Valkaria, Fl and one daughter Linda (Gary) Pangburn of Greybull; nine grandchildren, Clinton (Tami) and Calvin (Brenda) Yonts of Midland, Texas, Lucinda Pope of Levelland, Texas, Craig Yonts of Casper, Ty Pangburn of Longmont, Co, Travis Yonts of Omaha, Nebr, Marissa Yonts of Scottsbluff, Nebr, Dylan Yonts and Hillery (Craig) Masterton of Grant-Valkaria, Fl; eight great-grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Yonts, Kylie Yonts, Korli Yonts, Cameron Yonts, Conner Yonts, Nick (Sheanna)Virden, Candace Pope, Colton Pope; 4 great-great grandchildren, Erabella and Precious Virden, Casen and Kenzie Yonts and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Yonts and 5 brothers.

Visitation at Thompson Funeral Home is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 28.
