Floyd Allred Brinkerhoff

Jan. 24, 1929 – July 18, 2023

Floyd Allred Brinkerhoff passed away peacefully at his home, like he wanted to, July 18, 2023.

He was born Jan. 24, 1929, the third child of Warren Brinkerhoff and Vera Allred. He had 12 half-brothers and sisters and nine siblings. He always thought it pretty cool that he was named after his uncle Floyd Allred.

He grew up on a farm outside of Lovell. They all had to work very hard growing up. He instilled the value of hard work into his children. The Brinkerhoff family, however, takes after their mother and found humor in almost everything.

Floyd served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Minneapolis area. He attended Lovell schools and then joined the Army and gained the rank of corporal. He was in the reserves until March 1961.

He acquired an Associate Degree from BYU after his military service. While attending BYU he continued his association with Rosemarie May. They were married March 20, 1956, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Floyd worked in construction his entire life. His employees were his children and a few school teachers during the summer. He was loved by all his employees.

Floyd loved all his brothers and sisters and only had fond memories of them. He was always whistling or singing.

He almost died in 1978 from complications of an operation in Billings. During that time the people of Lovell were very good to our family. We always associated this with how wonderful a person our father was.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and seven siblings.

Floyd and Rosemarie had five children, B'linda, Jan, Lori, Cole and Kara; 19 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held July 21 in the Lovell Cemetery.
