Dean Shultz died at the Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody on Oct. 7, 2015. He was 86.
He was born in Unionville, Missouri, on Oct. 12, 1928, to parents Elma and Frank Shultz.

As a small infant, their family moved to McFadden, Wyoming, an oil camp in southern Wyoming, later residing in Laramie.

Dean received his degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming. He worked for Ohio Oil, later changing to Marathon Oil for 37 years, retiring in 1986.

In 1951, Dean and Dolly Block were married in Sidney, Nebraska. They just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Dean was a member of the Masons, Supreme Council 33, Kalif Shriners, Elks, Eagles and Cody Parkinson Support Group.

Dean was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather. Family and friends will sorely miss him.

He is survived by his wife Dolly; daughter Sue Shultz of Powell; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Nancy Shultz of Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren Casey Shultz and fiancé Bradley Johnson of San Francisco, Calvin Dean Shultz of Denver. He also is survived by sisters, Jeannie Graves of Riverton and Kate Ferry of Oakland, California; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family of Lea and Randy Preator, children Steve and Kristy, Ryan and Sharon, and Shauna and Joe Montgomery.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents Elma and Frank Shultz, his stepmother Gusty Shultz and his brother Wayne and sister-in-law Shirley Shultz.

A memorial service will be at the Thompson Funeral Home in Powell on Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. The family has requested memorial donations be made to the Spirit Mountain Hospice, 808 Canyon View Ave., Cody, WY, 82414, or The Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
