Garett Brock Nofzinger, 19, died on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016.
Garett was born March 3, 1996, in Oregon City, Oregon, to Ric and Nanette Nofzinger. He and his family moved to Powell when he turned 1 year old, and he continued to grow up within the community of Powell.
Garett graduated from Powell High School in 2015. He was active in honor choir, speech and debate as well as the local music scene.
Garett was a talented singer, songwriter and musician. He aspired to go to school to study music production. He was a self-taught guitarist and often helped other aspiring musicians with production.
Garett was the most kind-hearted and selfless young man that most people have ever come across. Those who loved and knew him well knew how generous and genuine his heart was. It was in his nature to put others before himself.
Garett was preceded in death by his grandmother Betty Nofzinger, grandfather L.M. Mead Jr., and uncles Ronald and Tony Nofzinger.
Garett is survived by his parents Ric and Nanette Nofzinger; sisters Ashley (Lance) Lucas and Rochelle Nofzinger; niece Aliyah Nofzinger; grandfather Gordon Nofzinger; grandmother Sally Mead; girlfriend Maggie Arross; uncle Larry (Therese) Mead; several cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.
Garett just recently was baptized and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved his God.
Family services were held Monday, Jan. 4. A celebration of life will be held March 5.
