Gary Paul Clendenen, 74, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2025. He was born September 22, 1950, in Evanston, Illinois to Wiiliam “Bill” Paul and Martha Jean (Rich) Clendenen joining siblings Paulette, Terri, Pam and Cindy.
Gary grew up and attended school in Illinois. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy. While in the Navy, he fought in the Vietnam war. His time in the Navy brought him to California where he chose to stay and raise his family.
Gary was a machinist by trade, but he loved to give his time to his community. He spent countless hours coaching and managing little league teams. He was also a foster parent to many children. Gary was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to help with guided bird hunts alongside his trusted dog, Hershey.
Even with all the beautiful memories made in California, his time there was ending. In 2017 he made Ralston, Wyoming his final home.
Gary is survived by his son, Shang (Deidre) Clendenen, Frannie, Wyoming; son, Nathan (Jennifer) Clendenen, Galt, CA;daughter Teya (Robert) Baumgardner, Houston, Texas; son, Bryan Clendenen, Elmira, Oregon; adopted daughter Tera, Eugene, Oregon; adopted son Michael Clendenen, Powell, Wyoming; adopted daughter, Emily Clendenen, Powell, Wyoming; stepdaughter, Jody (Fernando) Ulloa, Hemet, California; stepson David Porter (Melissa Connally), Citrus Heights, California; stepson Jason Porter, Citrus Heights, California; nieces and nephews, and many grandchildren whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his wife Matia, his parents, his stepfather Thomas, and his four sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell, Wyoming.
