Hans G Muecke

Hans Muecke, of Powell, died peacefully at Powell Valley Care Center on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He was 91.

A memorial service for Hans will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Union Presbyterian Church in Powell.

Hans was born July 30, 1922, in Schwusen, Germany, to Juliane (Flock) and Karl Muecke. Hans immigrated to the United States with his parents and one brother in 1924 and settled in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1934 they moved to Wyoming and homesteaded on the Willwood. After graduating from high school, Hans entered the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he learned to drive and become an electrician.

Hans married Helen Bock on Sept. 3, 1949, and to this union six children were born. Hans worked as a farmer and electrician. After retiring, Hans finished out his work career at Food Basket IGA, where he made many friends. He was a lifelong member of Union Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served as an elder, deacon, was on the Buildings and Grounds Committee and was a Mariner.

Hans was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Juliane Muecke; mother- and father-in-law Ruth and Cyrus Bock; and brothers-in-law Ed and John.

Hans is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Helen; brothers Martin (Lorraine) Muecke; Gerhard (Donna) Muecke; and sister Hilda Bock. Also surviving him are his children George (Barb) Muecke, Susan (Chip) Lowery, Cy (Kelly) Muecke, Miriam (Dirk) Currey, James (Bonita) Muecke and Paul (Kim) Muecke; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial donations can be made to the Union Presbyterian Church Buildings and Grounds Fund or to a charity of your choice.
