Harlen D. Roemmich of Powell died peacefully at his home in the Rocky Mountain Manor on May 28, 2016. He was 76.
Harlen was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Steele, North Dakota, to Henry and Mabel (Reichel) Roemmich.

He graduated from high school, and later moved to Powell.

Harlen married Sharon Marmon on July 16, 1961, in Powell. The couple divorced in 1975.

He married Carlene Zierke in November 1980. They were later divorced.

For years, he worked as a truck driver for Dick Jones Trucking in Powell.

Harlen enjoyed fishing and camping.

He attended Charity Baptist Church in Powell.

Harlen is survived by sons Michael of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, J.D. (Terri) of Cody, John “Whiz” of Deaver and Kenneth “Toad” of Holden, Missouri; daughter Dona Burbank of Powell; and sisters Shirley Roemmich and Sandy Beier. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Harlen was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mabel; daughter-in-law Phyllis Roemmich (Michael); daughter-in-law Mary (Whiz); and brother-in-law Ron Beier.

Honorary pallbearers at his funeral service will be Michael Roemmich, Dona Burbank, J.D. Roemmich, Whiz Roemmich, Toad Roemmich, Sherry Lindner, Pete Schuster, Dan Schuster, Wendy Shaw, Kent Beier, Kevin Beier, Todd Beier, Adam Burgess, Ryan Burgess, Richard Burbank, Skyler Roemmich, Miriah Roemmich, Weston Roemmich, Lacey Hart, Quinnten Roemmich and Kimi Roemmich.

A visitation will take place on Friday, June 3, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, at 10 a.m. at Charity Baptist Church in Powell, with Pastor Kevin Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Cody.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
