Helen Jeanne Buxton

Helen Jean “Jeanne” Holman Buxton passed away on January 10, 2015 at the age of 79, surrounded by family.

She was born on December 18, 1935 in Gooding, Idaho, to Helen May Strickling and Lindsay Haskell Holman.

She graduated from Gooding High School and briefly attended college at the University of Kansas and The College of Puget Sound. While in Washington, she met Jay Farrell Buxton. They were married on April 8, 1956 in Gooding, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized and their family was sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 10, 1965.

Jeanne was always serving and thinking of others. She put her family first and made many sacrifices for them. She served in several Church callings, some of which were Relief Society President, Ward and Stake Primary President, cub scouting, pianist and Family History Consultant, as well as serving in the American Legion and providing humanitarian aid through the numerous quilts, bandages, and toys she created. She also helped with the Teton Valley History Museum. She loved serving in the Rexburg Temple with Farrell, and also as Chaplains for the Teton Valley Hospital. She loved being anywhere with family, playing the piano, cooking for her family, and watching her kids and grandkids in sports.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents and step father, Leland Stanford Fleischman; her loving husband, Jay Farrell Buxton; daughter, Kara Jean Buxton; and brother Darrell E. Fleischman.

She is survived by her brothers Gary Lynn Holman and Rick Dean Fleischman; a sister, Karen Lee Ripatti; and four children, Kerry Dean (Kathy) Buxton of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Randy Lynn (Susan) Buxton of Downey, Idaho; Cindy (David) Miles of Pleasant Grove, Utah; and Jack Lee (Kristine) Buxton of Orem, Utah; as well as 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Driggs LDS Stake Center in Driggs, Idaho. A viewing will be held on January 16, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm and again on Saturday, prior to the service, from 10:00-10:45 am. Burial will be in the Bates Cemetery.
