Helen Janet Larsen passed away at Powell Valley Healthcare on August 7, 2026. She was born on March 23, 1947 to parents Ralph and Janet Larsen, and was raised on the Larsen Ranch on the Wood River above Meeteetse, Wyoming. She attended school in Meeteetse and was married to Larry Putney, with whom she had their daughter, Dana. Helen and Larry later divorced and she married Doug Pearce in 1989.

From an early age, Helen had a deep love and connection with the horses on the Larsen Ranch that carried on throughout her life. When she was a young girl, she was very upset that she was not included in the horse work of the day that was going on several miles away in Gooseberry and took off walking from the ranch to try to catch up. The blisters on her feet were a testament to her strong and determined will.

Helen was known as a hard worker. She and Doug worked together on the Sunlight Ranch outside of Cody in the late 1980s-early 1990s. Over the years, she also worked for the bank in Meeteetse, Western Real Estate, the Zero Box, Hansel and Gretels, McGlathery’s Green House among others. Helen and Doug made their home outside of Powell, Wyoming since 1996.

Continuing with her lifelong love of horses, she purchased her first cutting horse stud, High Brow Tuesday, in 2010. She continued to own and raise more cutting horses and has had them shown across the region and the western US. She had a “green thumb” with plants and always raised a bountiful garden. She enjoyed following cutting competitions and rodeo events on TV and the internet in her free time.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, Doug and daughter Dana (Brian) Webster, brother Mervin (Nada) Larsen, sister Karen (Bill) Gould, sister Sharon Kruger, sister Linda (Abby and Rich) Herman, six nieces and one nephew.

A graveside service will be held at the Meeteetse Cemetery at 11am on Tuesday, August 18th, 2026.
