Henry "Hank" Lynn Whitmore died Thursday, June 19, 2015, at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana. He was 88.
Hank was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Bridger, Montana. He attended Powell and Lovell schools and at the age of 17 joined the Navy. In 1946 he married Mary Alyce Pryde of Byron, Wyoming. They moved to Powell and Hank went to work for Pan American Oil, later Amoco Production Company, and retired after 36 years.
After retirement, he enjoyed working for his son, Michael, in his painting business. He also drove truck as needed for Kylander Construction and worked for Whitlock Motors and Garvin Motors as a salesman.
Hank enjoyed golf, skiing, woodworking, boating and fishing. He became an avid reader and his family remembers Hank in his favorite chair, the sun on his shoulders and a good book in his hand. He enjoyed the companionship of his friends at Gottsche and the Powell Senior Center. He cherished the time spent with his family. He loved pie.
Hank unselfishly gave to anyone in need. He was a generous, loving man who would always lend a hand. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Jill Whitmore and son-in-law Jim Johnston.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Alyce, son Michael (Sonni) Whitmore, daughters Deb Johnston and Kim (Tom) Allen, sister Mildred Scott, grandchildren Jennifer, Jami, Steve, Matt and Jake, and great-grandsons Brycen, Brock and Nathan.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at Crown Hill Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.thompsonfuneral.net or to P.O. Box 807, Powell, WY 82435.
