Jacob Earl Wolf Jr, age 99, slipped his mortal coil, and joined his beloved Polly, who has been waiting since August 2022. The second son of Jacob Earl Wolf Sr. and Ella Mae McKinney, Earl grew up on the family farm in Hayesville, Oxford, Pennsylvania. As a youngster, Earl peddled fish he and his father purchased by pick-up loads from a relative, picked and sold poke (wild asparagus) and lived with various relatives after his mother died when he was six years old.
Colorblind he missed serving in World War II, but worked as a freight agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Other career pursuits included farming, welding, carpentry, and remodeling.
Inquisitive and inventive, Earl improvised, as well as created solutions to various challenges. Hobbies were travel, photography, hunting, and wood carving, especially birds. Gardening was a passion and planting trees at each new property an imperative.
Earl served on numerous public and civic boards from a district vo-tech school to the Wapiti Volunteer Fire Company. He was generous, funny and loving in a quiet, restrained manner.
The last of his immediate family, Earl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lawrence, Bill and Nathan; daughters Linda Mae Roberts and Gayle Louise Onks. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Diane (Steve) Martin, son Jacob Earl Wolf III, Powell, grandchildren Cliff (Annamaria) Martin, Cheyenne, Jennifer Martin, Denver, Stephanie (Jason) Wnetrzak, North Carolina, and Adrianne (Matt) Thomas, Iowa; three great grandchildren, Caroline, Haley and Carter.
Private family services will be later this year.
