Jane D Northrup

Jane D. Clark Northrup was born July 12, 1917 to Mary D. and Lyman Clark in Los Angeles, CA. Jane grew up in and around various oil patches in California and Wyoming while her father was with Union Oil Co. She attended the University of Wyoming, graduating Phi Kappa Phi with a degree in Mathematics in 1940. The 1950's and 1960's found her in Lovell WY as the accountant for Ward Myers Chevrolet dealer. While in Lovell, Jane served as the first female City Council member and made a trip to Washington, D.C. to accept an award for the city of Lovell. Jane was always an active member of the Eastern Star organization and spearheaded the creation of the Job's Daughters Bethel #29 in Lovell.

Jane and L. Donald Northrup were married on December 22, 1966. Jane took to farming life with gusto and especially enjoyed attending legislative sessions in Cheyenne with Donald who served in the Wyoming legislature as a Senator and in the House of Representatives for a total of 24 years.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, L. Donald Northrup (1997), her stepson Laness Northrup (2005), and her brother Bill Clark (1975).

Jane is survived by two nieces, Bobby Purcell and Marlene Wogsland (Jim); stepdaughters Mary Ann Northrup and Juletta Corbin (Bob); stepgrandsons William Northrup (Louise), David Northrup (Astrid), Donald (Cynthia) Northrup, and Andrew Corbin (Amy); stepgranddaughter Kathryn Evans (Tim); and eleven great grandchildren.

Jane was a member of the United Methodist Church in Powell, the Willwood Club, P.E.O., Eastern Star, and Fine Arts Club.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Powell.
