Jimmy Joe Rodriguez, age 79, was born on March 6, 1945 in Powell, Wyoming to Paul, Sr. and Antonia Rodriguez. Jim tragically left us on June 17, 2024 in Powell following a heart event. He graduated from Powell High School in 1963 and served as a cook in the National Guard before starting his farming career. Jim was a lifelong resident and farmer in Powell. He loved his life and made every day special Farming was in his DNA and he enjoyed going to work everyday.
Jim was overjoyed to welcome son Jared in 1968 followed by son Jeremy in 1970. He was proud to be a father; his sons were the joy of his life; as was spending time in Mexico, good wine and cigars, gourmet food and fast cars. He was a member of the Elks, the Eagles and he served on many agriculture boards. He especially enjoyed his time on the Shoshone Irrigation board. He was always willing to help and serve his community. Jim was a social bug and enjoyed visiting with people.
Jim married Becki Franklin in November 1994. They were looking forward to their upcoming 30th wedding anniversary. Their years together were filled with joy, travel and a special companionship.
Jim was preceded in death by his oldest son Jared, his parents, and his sister Ester Rodriguez.
Jim is survived by his wife Becki; daughter-in-law Karen Rodriguez and grandchildren Tayler and Alaina Rodriguez; son Jeremy Rodriguez and wife Amy, and grandchildren Emily (Logan) Pieper and Ryley Rodriguez; great-grandchildren McKenzie and Mason Pieper; step-children Chad Jones; Billy Jones and wife Saeko and grandchildren William and Jasmine Jones; Ginger Carlson and husband Eric, and grandchildren Chandler, Wyatt (Lauren), and Chloe, Toby Jones. He leaves behind siblings Paul Rodriguez, Virginia Damori, Roger Rodriguez and Patricia Roorda.
A rosary for Jim will be celebrated at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 21 at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church.
