Joseph "Joe" Lee Lawrence

Joseph “Joe” Lee Lawrence, Jr., 57, of Douglas, North Dakota, passed away on his birthday, October 3, 2025. He was born October 3, 1968, in Hinsdale, Illinois, the beloved son of Weldon and the late Charlette (Siirila) Haynes.

On November 8, 2006, Joe married the love of his life, Amy. Together, they shared 28 years side by side, raising their family, weathering life’s storms, and proving time and again that they were stronger together. When Amy suffered a stroke in 2024, their love only deepened, showing the true strength of their bond.

A gifted cook, Joe learned at the side of his Grandma Ferg. Together, they even worked in the kitchen of the old Eugene’s restaurant in Cody, WY, where Joe’s love for cooking truly began. He carried those lessons throughout his life, bringing joy to family and friends with every meal he prepared.

 In the early 2000s, Joe worked at a sheet metal factory in Cheyenne, where he found joy in his craft. For the past six years, he was employed at United Quality Cooperative Tire Shop in New Town, where his coworkers became more like family.

Joe had a deep love for the outdoors and was happiest when tinkering outside. Above all, he treasured his family—especially his grandbabies. Being “Papa” was one of his greatest joys, and nothing made him happier than time spent with them. He was a selfless man who would do anything for those he loved.

Patriotism ran deep in Joe’s heart. He loved celebrating the Fourth of July and was filled with pride when his son Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Amy Lawrence; his children: Tim Tschacher  of Rapid City, SD, Matthew Thull of Powell, WY, Erika (Sean) McKenzie of Minot, ND, Sabrina (Tones) Jones of Kenmare, ND, Michael (Chrysta) Lawrence of Fort Irwin, CA, and Anthony (Kendra) Lawrence of Kenmare, ND; his father, Weldon Haynes of Powell, WY; siblings: Janet (Brad) Erickson of Powell, WY, Candace Siirila of Worland, WY, Connie Haynes of Cheyenne, WY, Tina (Jose) Lara of Cheyenne, WY, and Don Haynes of Powell, WY; and his cherished grandbabies: Aurora Thull, Lilly Thull, Odessa Thull, Blakelee McKenzie, Luna Mix, Lakyla Christe, Kinsley Jones, Adelynn Jones, Liberty Lawrence, Emilia Lawrence, and Maddox Lawrence, with three more grandsons on the way. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlette Haynes; his grandmothers, Thelma Haynes and Elynor Ferguson; his aunt, Jeaneen Siirila; his uncle, Ralph Hughes; and his best friend, Odie Odegard.

Joe will be laid to rest beside his beloved mother at 2:00 p.m. in Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell, Wyoming on Wednesday October 8 , 2025.

Joe will be remembered for his generous heart, his devotion to family, and his unwavering love for his country. His legacy of love, strength, and selflessness wilcontinue to live on in the lives of all who knew him.
