Joshua Alan Campbell

Joshua Alan Campbell of Alliance, NE passed away suddenly in his sleep on February 14, 2014.  He was 29 years old.
Josh attended the Art Institute of Colorado majoring in Culinary Arts and though he chose not to make a career in the food industry, he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.  He was also accomplished in the art of taxidermy, having learned the necessary skills working alongside his step-father.  Josh’s hobbies included a love of hunting, fishing and anything that kept him outdoors.  He also took after his Grandpa Kahler by becoming an excellent poker player.  He was always willing to lend a hand to others in need and was well known for his sense of humor and kind heart.  Josh will be missed very much by everyone that knew him.
Josh is survived by his mother, Barbara (Kahler) Whitfield and step-father, John Porras of Alliance, NE.  Also mourning his loss are his two sisters and their spouses, Heather (Campbell) and Tom Sterner, their children Tristen, Deven and Eden Sterner of Arvada, CO, Michelle Hopkins and Matt Bright, their son Eric Hopkins of Boston, MA, brother Peter Campbell of Denver, CO, step-grandparents Juan and Anita Porras of Chadron, NE, his godparents Glen and Julie (Hofeldt) Kahler of Colome, SD and an untold number of extended family and friends.  Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonhart and Dorothy (Story) Kahler of Colome, SD.
A lunch will be held in his honor at the Legion in Colome, SD on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 2:00pm-5:00pm.  All are welcome to attend as we celebrate Josh’s life and the legacy of love he left behind.
