Katherine Murphy

Katherine F Murphy, (Goodchild) from Powell, Wyoming, passed away January 10, 2026, in Billings, Montana.

She was born in Glendive, Montana and moved to Powell in 1948 where she graduated from High School in 1957. In 1960, she met the “Love of her Life”, Robert Murphy. They were married in 1961 and had two sons.

She obtained a Degree in Teaching and taught for 19 years. In 1999, Katherine and Bob moved back to Powell and became active in the Presbyterian Church. She was also involved in the American Legion Auxiliary and Eastern Star.

Katherine loved to sew, cook and go camping and always had a love for God, family and kids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Clayton and Katherine Goodchild, and her life long partner, Robert Murphy. Sons, Bradly and Brian (Violetta) Murphy, brother Harland (Arlene) Goodchild and sisters Elaine (Larry) Wenger, and Eunice (Ronald) Watson, two grandsons, three great grand kids, and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services will be held at the United Church of Powell (formerly Union Presbyterian Church) at 329 North Bent, in Powell on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 10:00 am.
