Linda Schmidt Greaham went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 6, 2025 as a result of heart and kidney disease. Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ was the most important thing in her life.
Linda was born on January 6, 1945 in Billings, Montana, to Mildred and Richard Schmidt of Powell, Wyoming. Linda’s mother, grandmother and doctor went to Deaconess Hospital, where he had practicing privileges to deliver by C-Section. Her father was in the service at the time and was anxiously awaiting the birth so he could hitchhike home for a few days to be with his wife and baby!
Linda grew up in Powell, where she and her brother, Dean enjoyed small town life and the love of parents, grandparents and friends. She attended Parkside School, The Middle Building and graduated from PHS in 1963. While in high school, she especially loved choir, Pop Group, Band, Pep Band, FHA, FTA, French Club, Pep Club and All State Orchestra. She loved live theater and was on the make-up crew for the Junior and Senior Class plays.
Linda attended NWC for one year, then graduated from Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma with a BS degree in Home Economics Education and a Minor in Social Studies. While at SWSC she worked at the library where she met another education major, Bill Greaham. They became good friends and later dated and were married in May of 1967. After graduation they went to Nevada to teach for two years. While they were in Nevada, their son, Jeff, was born. Julie, their daughter completed their family three and one-half years later.
Linda and Bill moved to Powell in August, 1969, where Bill taught and coached and Linda was a full-time mom and substitute teacher. She started teaching Home EC at Powell High School in 1976 and taught in Public School for 30 plus years. She sponsored the FHA and HERO groups and served as advisor to two FHA state officers and one National FHA President. She was selected as Wyoming's Advisor of the Year.
The Greahams were active members of the First Southern Baptist Church where she taught VBS, Sunday School, and Children's Church, sang in the choir and served as co-chairman of the social committee for many years. Linda was active in American Association of University Women, twice serving as President and in a Women's Teachers honorary, Delta Kappa Gama where she served as President for one term. She was named to Who's Who Among American Teachers. Linda retired from teaching as a result of health issues in 2006, but hated leaving her career and the students she loved.
Linda was predeceased by her husband of 57plus years, her brother Dean, parents, grandparents and extended family. She is survived by her children, Julie (Leif) Ohman, and Jeff (Christi) Greaham, and seven grandchildren, Nikki, Kelsey, Kirk, Dillon, Elise, Dalton and Harlie. She leaves 11 great grandchildren; Bradlee, Kaile, Sabelle, Kameron, Ronnie, Christian, Adelyn, Finlee, Quinton, Sean and Shane, sister-in-law, Karen Schmidt, her children Amy and Dirk and their families and special friends, the Price Family.
She wished to be remembered as a Christ Follower, Loving Wife, mother and grandmother and dedicated teacher.
Her Services will be held on Friday May 16, 2025 at Victory Baptist Church in Powell Beginning at 2 pm.
Memorials may be given to Serenity or Samaritans’s Purse.
