Emma Louise Rich, 84, formerly from South Sioux City, passed peacefully on January 1, 2017 in Powell, Wyoming.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Glad Tidings Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska.        Burial will be in Dakota County Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service, with the family present.

   Louise was born October 1, 1932 in Emerson, Nebraska, to Joseph and Mary (Cole) Carman. She was raised on the family farm with her four brothers and two sisters; William (Bill), Floyd, Donna May, Donnie Joe, Mary, and Charles (Chuck) Carman. Louise moved to Sioux City, Iowa as a young teen when the farm was sold.

   At the age of 16, Louise met her husband while playing the jukebox and eating chili dogs at the original Milwaukee Weiner House. Louise married Everett Lee Rich in the Black Hills of South Dakota in August 1950. Louise enjoyed life, reading, music, animals, chili dogs and chocolate. Louise shared she got to see Elvis at the Sioux City Auditorium and lost her shoe – as it was tradition to throw shoes in a big pile and dance without them the whole concert!

   Louise worked many factory jobs making Transistor Radios, Devil’s Food cookies, Twin Bings, and Chocolate Peanut Clusters. Louise became a Home Care Assistant for the aging later in life and she loved this job as she could care for others. She was a fun-loving, caring person and opened her home to many during hard times. Louise would help anyone in need. Louise had many friends, she cherished her family and had lots of fun with her sister in-laws and their daily morning coffee.

   Louise is survived by her daughter, Terri Lee Bossow and husband Mark Bossow, of Powell, Wyoming; and son Michael Everett Rich and wife Dora (Nellie) Rich of South Sioux City, Nebraska. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ron Fowler and wife Kim of Deerfield, Illinois; granddaughter Brandi Nelson and husband Ty of Cody, Wyoming; granddaughter Lindsay Tillinghast and husband Kyle of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandson Devin (Corey) Burger of Warrensburg, Missouri; granddaughter Kristina Rich of South Sioux City, Nebraska; great-grandchildren Taylor and Samuel Fowler; Alexandra, Matthew, and Zachary Nelson; and Owen and Edward Tillinghast. Brother Charles (Chuck) Carman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sister in-law’s, Lorraine Carman and Mary Rich of Sioux City, Iowa, Elsie Carman Jepsen, of Emerson, Nebraska and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Everett Lee Rich; daughter Janeen Louise Rich; great-grandson John James Fowler; brothers William (Bill) Carman, Floyd Carman, Donna May Haber,Donnie Joe Carman; sister Mary Alkire and several brother and sister-in-laws.

   Louise will be missed by many other family and friends.
