Luella "Lou" Danner passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025 surrounded by the trusted care team at the Long Term Care Center of Cody.
Lou was born on June 4, 1926 on a farm outside of Hays, KS to Fred and Viola Fair. She was the oldest of five children. After her father's early death, she became responsible for helping to support her siblings through hardship, the Kansas Dust Bowl and the depression.
In 1945, while working at Ft. Hayes State College, she met and later married Charles Holland from Texas. After the war was over, Charles moved Lou, her mother and her siblings to Clovis, New Mexico, just 10 miles from his home in Texas. They welcomed two children, Dusty, born in 1947 and Treva born in 1948. They lived in Texas and New Mexico for over 20 years and later divorced. After her children left home, she married her second husband, Max Danner, who later passed away..
During her business career, Lou was an accountant for a variety of clients. In retirement she became a nanny, a job very dear to her. The children remained a part of her heart for many years.
Lou was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and most recently, Wapiti Women's Club.
At 99, if Lou wasn't watching the Dallas Cowboys or Judge Judy, she was reading. And read she did, ( 3 or 4 books a week). In the last 19 years, she had checked out 1404 books from the Cody Library.
She followed her daughter and son-in-law to Wyoming in 2006 where she remained till her death.
Lou is preceded in death by her father and mother; her son, Dusty; sisters, Fredria Deston and Anne Williams; and her brother John Fair.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Treva Lee (Jay) of Cody; her grandson, Nicholas Nanos (Jane) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her granddaughter, Laura Abercrombie (David) and their son, Allock Abercrombie of Keller, Texas; and 15 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Park County Library Foundation, 1500 Heart Mt Street, Cody, Wyoming, 82414..
