Margaret Corbett Wirth
Margaret Corbett Wirth passed away on Wednesday, September 3, at the Sheridan
Wyoming hospital. Margaret or Meg as she was called, was the first child of
John and Loy Sessions Corbett. She was born on October 30, 1922 in
Thermopolis, Wyoming.
Margaret grew up in Byron, Wyoming and graduated from Byron High School. On
March 28, 1941, she was married to James Francis Wirth at the home of her
grandparents, Byron A. and Ellen J. Sessions, who were celebrating their
golden wedding anniversary on that day.
At first Jim worked for Ohio Oil Company, which later became Marathon Oil.
They next lived in Laramie where Jim attended the University of Wyoming until
they moved to Oakland California during World War II to work in the shipyards.
When Jim received his draft notice, they returned to Byron so she and the
children could be near her parents while he was gone. He left for Denver but
didn't pass his physical because of asthma. He resumed work for Marathon and
through the years worked his way up to District Superintendent. Through the
years they lived in Sidney, Nebraska, Lafayette, Louisiana, McFadden, Wyoming
and Casper, Wyoming. Jim passed away in 1980. After Meg's parents died, she
and Jim took her three siblings to raise as their own even though Meg was only
24 and Jim was 25 and they had three children of their own. She was a loving,
kind and thoughtful person who was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by three children, Rodney and wife DeAnna Wirth of Buffalo,
Wyoming, Sandra and husband Ralph Watts of Adel, Iowa, Steve and wife Elaine
Wirth of Wapiti, Wyoming, her sisters, Bertha Mueller of Sidney, Nebraska, and
Jackie Hecht of Powell, Wyoming, brother Jerry and wife Michele Corbett of
Lovell, Wyoming, ___grandchildren, ___great-grand-children, and
__great-great-grandchildren, one sister -in-law, Jeanne Wirth of Powell, one
brother-in-law, Evan Wirth of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also has 11 nieces
and nephews who lovingly called her "Grandma Meg".
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dorothy Wilkinson and
infant sister Barbara, as well as three brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Powell, Wyoming. Thompson Funeral
home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
donations to the Byron Memorial Park, Donations can be sent to Town of Byron,
Box 5, Byron, Wyoming 82412.
