Marlys Joann (Schrader) Palan passed away in the presence of herâ€‹ lovingâ€‹ children on Wednesday, February 11thâ€‹â€‹ â€‹at the Powell Valley Care Center following an extended illness. â€‹ Marlys Palan was born â€‹November 23, 1937 in Faribaultâ€‹, Minnesota,â€‹ to Lawrence and Margaret (Hutton) Schrader. She grew up on the family farm west of Dundas, Minnesota, attendâ€‹edâ€‹ â€‹â€‹District 97 â€‹country â€‹school and graduatâ€‹edâ€‹ from Northfield High School in â€‹1955. Marlys went on to attend nursing school at Northwesternâ€‹ Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN, and received her RNâ€‹. She married Bill Palan â€‹â€‹at St. Dominic's Church in Northfield iâ€‹n â€‹1959 and â€‹moved to Colorado where they both worked and raised their two sons Christopher and David. â€‹They moved to rural Deaver, Wyoming in1975 and later divorced. Marlys moved to Powell â€‹â€‹from the family farmâ€‹ in 2003 and resided there until her death.
Marlys enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping, traveling into the mountains, and her beloved cat George. She was a devoted caretaker with a nursing career that spanned â€‹over 40 years
Marlys Palan is survived by sons Christopher Palan of Deaverâ€‹, WYâ€‹ and David Palanâ€‹, of Powell WYâ€‹ . Stepâ€‹-â€‹grandâ€‹daughters â€‹Janelle and â€‹Kimberly, sister Lois Stowe of Northfield, â€‹MN, â€‹specialâ€‹ â€‹friends Patty â€‹and Mark â€‹Wâ€‹urzel and their daughtersâ€‹ â€‹of Powell,â€‹ WYâ€‹ many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Gerald Schrader, sister-in-law Virginia Schraderâ€‹, and daughter-in-law â€‹Lori Palan.â€‹
â€‹â€‹ Memorial service will be held February 28 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church at 11:00am Burial will be at â€‹a later date at Rolling Green Family Cemetary, Northfield, Minnesota.
