Marlys Joann (Schrader) Palan passed away in the presence of her​ loving​ children on Wednesday, February 11th​​ ​at the Powell Valley Care Center following an extended illness. ​  Marlys Palan was born ​November 23, 1937 in Faribault​, Minnesota,​ to Lawrence and Margaret (Hutton) Schrader.  She grew up on the family farm west of Dundas, Minnesota, attend​ed​ ​​District 97 ​country ​school and graduat​ed​ from Northfield High School in ​1955.   Marlys went on to attend nursing school at Northwestern​ Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN, and received her RN​.  She married Bill Palan ​​at St. Dominic's Church in Northfield i​n ​1959 and ​moved to Colorado where they both worked and raised their two sons Christopher and David.  â€‹They moved to rural Deaver, Wyoming in1975 and later divorced.  Marlys moved to Powell ​​from the family farm​ in 2003 and resided there until her death.  

Marlys enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping, traveling into the mountains, and her beloved cat George.  She was a devoted caretaker with a nursing career that spanned ​over 40 years


Marlys Palan is survived by sons Christopher Palan of Deaver​, WY​ and David Palan​, of Powell WY​ .  Step​-​grand​daughters ​Janelle and ​Kimberly, sister Lois Stowe of Northfield, ​MN, ​special​ ​friends Patty ​and Mark ​W​urzel and their daughters​ ​of Powell,​ WY​ many nieces, nephews, family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Gerald Schrader, sister-in-law Virginia Schrader​, and daughter-in-law ​Lori Palan.​

​​ Memorial service will be held February 28 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church at 11:00am  Burial will be at ​a later date at Rolling Green Family Cemetary, Northfield, Minnesota.
