Mary Susan Eversole, lovingly known as Suzie, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in Powell, Wyoming. She was born on September 29, 1936, in Lovell, Wyoming, and grew up in Cody, where she spent her childhood helping on the family farm and making cherished memories with her horse, Pepsy Cola.
Suzie's journey took a delightful turn when she met her husband, Moose, at the University of Wyoming in 1956. The spark ignited between them that fateful night at a local dance, where their playful banter culminated in a memorable slap after a silly dare. Their whimsical romance blossomed, leading to a Moose-style proposal: "let's just get married." This unique charm resulted in their marriage on July 31, 1958, in Cody. Their bond deepened when they were sealed in the Billings Temple in August 2000. Together, they raised three strong sons, David, Paul, and Doug, and faced the heart-wrenching loss of their cherished son, Michael, during childbirth.
Education was a fundamental part of Suzie's life. As a proud member of the Cody High School Class of 1954, she furthered her passion and family legacy of teaching by earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Colorado. This dedication led her to a fulfilling career as a High School English Language Arts teacher at Centaurus High School in Colorado, where she inspired countless students through her love for language and reading the classics.
Active in her community and church, Suzie and Moose served a mission for the LDS Church in the Arkansas-Little Rock Mission in 2007. Their service was a testament to their faith and their unwavering commitment to helping others.
In their retirement, Suzie and Moose embraced their adventurous spirits, traveling the world and preferring to explore back roads and unfamiliar paths. Their travels took them across Europe and throughout the United States, where they relished in history and indulged in their shared love for banana splits. One of the highlights of their journeys was a memorable trip to China. At the age of 86, Suzie embarked on her last adventure to Sicily, Italy, where she visited her granddaughter and family during their overseas tour, cherishing every moment spent together.
Outside of travel, Suzie found joy in reading and gardening. A true bibliophile, she would often pack a bag of books on her travels, eager to dive into new stories. During her adventures, she developed a whimsical hobby of collecting nativity sets and frogs, embodying her playful spirit.
Suzie's legacy lives on through her son Doug; granddaughter Alicia Fabbri, her husband Adam, and their children Gabriel and Luke; her granddaughter Bridget Yount; as well as other relatives and many friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Moose; her cherished children, David, Paul, and Michael; and her grandson, Michael. In her final moments, Suzie finally went home to the Lord, where she will be joyfully reunited with her beloved Moose.
Suzie will always be remembered as a loving wife, a caring mother and grandmother, and a treasured friend to many. Her impact on her family, her community, and her students will resonate for generations to come. A graveside service celebrating her marvelous life will be held on July 25, 2025, in Penrose, Wyoming.
