Monte Boyd Crichton was born March 12, 1977 in Newcastle, Wyoming. He passed away suddenly at his home in Powell, Wyoming, on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024. He was 46.

Monte lived in Osage, Wyoming when he was a young boy. He went to several schools while he was growing up, including in Newcastle, Rawlins and Saratoga, Wyoming.

He graduated high school from Saratoga, Wyoming in 1995. During his high school years in Saratoga, he enjoyed helping his dad on the ranch that his family worked and lived at. He liked running the equipment, and being around the animals there. After he graduated high school he went into the Navy for two years. He liked working for his grandfather Gerald Crichton Sr. in the oilfield.

He drove truck for several companies and also worked on several farms. His last job was being a caregiver for the disabled. He was taking some college courses to be a computer programmer and designer.

Monte liked to hunt, fish, camp and play video games. He liked being outdoors with his family, and friends. He loved his children, family and God. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1998. He and his mother, Linda, were baptized together, in Powell, Wyoming.

He found the love of his life in Elizabeth Shuffield and they were together for seven years.

Monte was preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother, Boyd and Dorothy Draper of Osage, Wyoming; aunt Martha Crichton of Burlington, Wyoming; cousins Ethan Blackwell of Riverton, Wyoming, Garrett Crichton of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and his daughter Abigail Crichton of Powell, Wyoming, who died at birth.

Survivors are his father and mother, Gerald and Linda Crichton Jr. of Shoshoni, Wyoming; Elizabeth Shuffield of Powell, Wyoming; mother and father in-law, Christine and Nicholas Shuffield of Powell, Wyoming; his biological father Monte Brimmer, of Belfield, North Dakota, who was estranged to him; his children Alexandra, Joshua, Angela, Sheridan — twin to Abigail — and Bethany; his sisters, Donna (Eric) Crisp of Belfield, North Dakota; Tina (Keith) Graves of Gillette, Wyoming; Lori Johnson of Burns, Wyoming; Melanie (Scott) Birrell of Brunswick, Georgia; Patty (Jim) Kier of El Paso, Texas; Tessa (Josh) Bean, of Laramie, Wyoming; and Zandra (Arlis) Draves Jr. of Torrington, Wyoming; sisters-in-law Shiloh Shuffield of Powell, Wyoming; and Sarah (Mike) Massey of Newport News, Virginia; his grandparents Gerald Crichton Sr. and his wife Donna of Shoshoni, Wyoming; grandmother Carolyn Sue Crichton of Powell, Wyoming; grandmother in-law Virginia Lindsey of Powell, Wyoming.

He has many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He loved with all his heart. He was always ready to help a friend. His family and friends will always love and miss him. With a heavy heart, and many tears we say goodbye to you. Till we meet again.

The family will be having graveside services for Monte on Tuesday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at the Crown Hill Cemetery, 676 Lane 9, and a lunch will be afterwards at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 527 W. Seventh St. in Powell, Wyoming.
