Nadean Marshall

Nadean Marshall passed away on May 28, 2022, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1928, in Berwyn, Oklahoma, to Commodore and Lela (Nix) Conway.

Nadean grew up around the Ardmore, Oklahoma, area. Even at 6 years old, she was expected to help on the farm, taking water to those working the fields. Growing up during the Great Depression, she learned to be frugal.

She married Gwynn W. Marshall on May 21, 1949, in Gainesville, Texas, and the couple moved to Wyoming when Gwynn transferred with the Standard Oil Company.

After moving to Wyoming, Nadean was part of the Garland community for a number of years. She helped raise chickens, pigs and cows. She enjoyed cooking, trying out new recipes, and how to cook deer and other game in various ways. She took on a big change in her mid-30s. She completed beauty school. The family moved south of Powell in 1968, the same year she opened Nadean’s Beauty Shop. Nadean made many friends in her beauty shop.

She and her husband Gwynn enjoyed camping and fishing especially up in the North Fork.

In later years, she displayed a strength of will to get through her personal losses and her surgeries and illnesses.

She was much loved by close friends, family, and her new friends at The Heartland assisted living.

She recently moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Nadean was preceded in death by her husband; her sons, John and Tandy; her granddaughter-in-law Emily; her great-grandson Wyatt; her two sisters, Bernice and Louise; and her three brothers, Gene, Howard, and Frank.

She is survived by her son Randy Marshall of Hot Springs, South Dakota; her daughter Gwen Edwards, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service at Crown Hill Cemetery will be held in June. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the American Heart Association.
