Nancy Lee Grant passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, in Powell, Wyoming, at the age of 81. Born on May 26, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, Nancy brought warmth, wisdom, and love to all those fortunate enough to know her throughout her long and meaningful life.
Nancy’s journey began amid the heartland of Missouri, where she was born and raised. From her earliest days, she exemplified kindness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family. These values guided her choices and actions as she built a rich legacy rooted in care and compassion. She graduated from Cody High School in 1963 and obtained her bachelor's from MSU. After raising 5 children, she worked at Powell Tribune and finished her career working for UW Outreach at NWC in Powell.
During her lifetime, Nancy was united in marriage with Robert Black and later, Ted Grant, both of whom preceded her in passing.
Nancy’s endless love for her family was the heart of her world. She will be deeply missed by her surviving children: her son Ty Black and Amanda (Powell, Wy); her daughter Karina (Black) Moran and her husband Lee (Cody, Wy) ; and her daughter Chantel Black and her partner Burke Waldron (Wasilla, Ak). Nancy’s devotion extended lovingly to her grandchildren Zak Black, Alyx Black, and Morgan Black, and her great-granddaughters Ember and Adalyn Black.
Nancy loved her gardening, riding and camping with her 4 wheeler group, playing bridge, and walking her dog. She never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Her kindness and compassion for people is one of many reasons that everyone loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Robert Black and Ted Grant, her sons Weston and Justin, and her sister Pamela Knopp.
The family would like to thank Michele (Mikki) Deromedi, Robin Perdue, employees of Powell Valley Care Center, and the Silver Angels of Powell's Police Department for their care and vigilance in Nancy's final years.
Services in Nancy’s honor will be held on July 10, 2026. A Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. at St. Barbara's Catholic Church. Following this, a graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery.
