Nelda Kay Furniss Burnside

Nelda Kay Furniss Burnside of Driggs, passed away peace¬fully, September 3, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on a blizzardy night on March 3, 1951, along with her twin brother, Neil in Driggs, Idaho, to Joseph Erwin and Lola Mae Murdock Furniss. She married her high school sweetheart and true love, Randy Burnside, on February 26, 1971 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with 6 children and 15 grandchildren whose favorite place to visit was anywhere that she was.

She had a carefree childhood running through the fields of their farm in Bates with siblings, Don (Sandra) of Rigby, ID, Margie (Mel) Hansen, of Downey, ID, Jim (Gae) of Brigham City, UT, Neil (Shelley) Pocatello, ID, Marilyn (Jerry) Marshall, Fairbanks, Alaska and Gary (Finau) Union City, California. She loved to spend time outside, walking on fence tops and playing baseball. She was a life long baseball fan and one of her dreams was to travel the U.S. watching baseball games.

Nelda was given gifts that blessed the lives of everyone around her. Her selfless, loving spirit was felt by all who knew her. She was always more concerned with other's needs more than her own. Her goodness and love and encouragement made everyone better. She gave everyone a desire to be better, to live happier and fuller lives of service. Because that was her hallmark, a great love for her Heav¬enly Father and her Savior, Jesus Christ, a great love for her devoted husband and for her wonderful children, and a love for performing service for others.

She spent many years serving in various church callings such as Young Women's president, Relief Society Counselor, but her heart was with the children she served as Primary President and primary teacher.

She loved having her family around her. She loved spend¬ing time with her grandkids and always made them feel so special and loved. Her smile and bright blue eyes will be missed. We love you mom!

She is survived by her husband, Randy Burnside of Driggs, daughters: Jenni (Casey) Radford, of Smithfield, UT, Mitzi (Jesse) Johnson, of Rexburg, ID, Buffy (Rich) Madsen, of Kaysville, UT, Heidi (Chris) Beck, of Rexburg, ID, Rachel (Caleb) Carter, of Rexburg, ID, son, Scott Burnside attending Utah State in Logan, UT and 9 grandsons, and 6 granddaugh¬ters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at the Driggs, LDS Stake Center. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00p.m., Monday, September 7, 2009 and 9:30-10:30 prior to the services. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.thompsonfuneral.net
