Raymond Jake Schiermeister

Ray Schiermeister of Powell died at the Red Lodge Hospital on Friday, June 20, 2014, at the age of 81.
Ray, son of Jake and Johanna Schiermeister, was born on April 5, 1933, at home on the farm in Emmons County, N.D. Ray grew up on the farm and attended rural schools. 
He married Lena Feist on Oct. 12, 1957, in Linton, N.D. They lived in Hazelton, N.D., for a number of years before moving to Powell in 1964. 
Ray worked as a parts manager for Cozzen's Motors and owned and operated the Garland Greenhouse for many years. He was a member of the American Legion.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Johanna Schiermeister, wife Lena Schiermeister, brothers Robert and Kenneth Schiermeister; sisters Marie Haas, Martha Walther and Eleanor Schiermeister.
Ray is survived by his three sons Gordon Schiermeister, Dennis (Tammy) Schiermeister, and Arlin (Vicki) Schiermeister; one daughter Laura Hall; four grandchildren, Lisa (Cody) Fagley, McKenzy Hall, Mark Schiermeister and Timothy Jesson; one brother, Ervin Schiermeister; sisters, Edna (Henry) Serr, Bertha (Bob)Massullo, Hilda (Jim) Houseman, Viola Kizis, LiAnn (John) Hathaway, Margie (Don) Smith and Dorinda (Albert) Weisbeck.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Powell.
Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory.
