Obituary

Richard “Dick” Lee Jones passed away peacefully September 2, 2026 in Powell, WY.

Dick was born March 1, 1948 in Princeton, MN to Charles and Evelyn Jones. He attended school in Princeton.

He married Linda Zulkosky and shortly after was drafted into the Army. His service brought him to Germany where he served the majority of his enlistment. After being honorably discharged he and Linda, along with their two children, Richard Jr. and Sandra relocated to Powell, WY in 1977.

Dick worked for the City of Powell in the water and waste water department as the manager until his retirement in 2009.

Dick was a true outdoorsman, loving all the outdoors had to offer including fishing, hunting, black powder shooting, and mountain man rendezvous. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, having owned several motorcycles, often a few at the same time.

In 1998 he purchased his dream property, The Last Chance Ranch in Garland. He loved spending his days shooting, working on his bikes and tending to the multiple different animals that found their way to the ranch.

He married Nancy Amell in 2008 and they spent the next 18 years riding motorcycles, visiting small cafes all over the state in pursuit of the best biscuits and gravy, and taking care of the ever growing animal population on the Last Chance Ranch.

In 2025, Dick and Nancy moved to Powell where they continued to enjoy their retirement, spending time with friends and of course their beloved dog Sadie.

Dick is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children Richard Jr. and Sandi (Rick) Fisher; step children Joy (Mark) Goodwin, Katie (Patrick) Michaelis, TJ (DeJannel) Goodwin, Sam (Anne) Goodwin; brothers Charles Jones, Ronald (Rebecca) Jones, Daniel (Ginger) Jones; and sister Diane (David) Miller; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Jones; and sisters, Betty and Shirley.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 2nd at 10am at Thompson Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Eagles club in Powell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation. The Parkinson's Foundation.
