Richard
Sievers
December 19, 1941 – June 4, 2026
Richard Roger Sievers, 84, of Powell, Wyoming, passed away on June 4, 2026. He was born on December 19, 1941, in Powell to Dick and Mary Sievers, and was the youngest of six siblings.
Richard spent much of his life in Powell and the surrounding area, deeply connected to the land he loved. A lifelong farmer at heart, he also worked as a ditch rider, was an electrician, and served a season in the U.S. Army. After retiring from farming on the Willwood, he devoted his time to tending trees and berry bushes, creating beautiful pieces in his wood shop, reading up on history and various other topics, and collecting pretty rocks. He found his greatest joy in activities such as time spent with family and friends, caring for pets and livestock, watching wildlife, and soaking up the sunshine and wide-open Wyoming outdoors.
In October 2023 Richard moved to Rose City West in Lovell. There he was welcomed by many friends, enjoyed community activities, and looked forward to the delicious meals and kindness shared at the senior center.
Kind-hearted and steady, Richard never complained. He possessed a subtle sense of humor and quietly resisted the modern world, staying true to the values and lifestyle he cherished.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Mary Sievers, siblings Bob, Dorothy, and Bill, and his granddaughter Brandi.
Richard is survived by his children, Carla Sievers-Ronning, Joan Zier, and Deborah Schuttemeier; his grandchildren, Rusty, Kacie, Nickie, Maci, Jessie, Dalton, and Zac; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A private family ceremony will be held later this year, as per his wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Richard by planting a tree or berry bush in his honor.
Some glad morning, when this life is over, I’ll fly away. To a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away.
Rest in peace, Richard. Your love for the land, your gentle spirit, and your quiet humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
