Robert Williams Mason, known to many as Bob, passed away on September 4, 2026. He was born on October 12, 1939, in Roswell,New Mexico, to James Mason and Grace Edmonds Mason. After losing his father at a young age, Bob and his brother, Don, spent many summers with family in Powell and Cody, Wyoming, while their mother continued to get her degree in Education.

Bob was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Roswell High School. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University and proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Germany and Vietnam. Bob was the recipient of a Vietnam Service Medal, and a Bronze Star Medal.

Bob had one son, Lance Mason, with Blanche Sink Mason. He later worked at Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado, in Water and Wastewater Treatment. Bob married Kathy Walde in 1976, his wife of 50 years. They built a life in Lakewood, Co. and eventually retired in Powell, WY, which is a place filled with cherished childhood memories.

Bob enjoyed golf and woodworking, spending many enjoyable hours in his home wood shop. He loved creating useful pieces for friends, family, and even the golf course. His family treasures the many items he made. Bob and Kathy also opened their hearts and homethrough the adoption of three siblings.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his son, Lance Mason and LaDonna; his stepchildren, Steele, Storrey, and Stone; his brother, Richard George and Julia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be planned at a later date.
