Rocky Wayne Moore

Rocky Wayne Moore passed away at his home in Powell, Wyoming on October 15, 2014 surrounded by
family. He was born in Rexburg, ID on February 2, 1946. Rocky lived a full life filled with all the simple
pleasures. He spent his childhood in Cobalt, ID. He graduated from Cokeville High School in 1964 and
then attended Northwest College and Eastern Montana where he obtained his degree in education.
This began his 42 year career as a fifth grade teacher. Teaching was by far the greatest talent that God
bestowed on him, and one of his greatest joys was molding young minds. He taught school in Billings,
MT; Big Piney, WY; and Cokeville, WY.
He married Doris Marie Pflipsen on June 13, 1970 in Billings, Mt. Eventually they settled in Cokeville, WY
to raise a family. They had 3 children. In addition to his teaching, he also was involved in many volunteer
and civic activities including the volunteer fire department, city council, city judge and Scouts.
He was also known for his love of history and the outdoors, North Dakota jokes, prowess in fishing,
gardening, and visiting with neighbors as he enjoyed a beautiful day. He had a love of family and
enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and sons, and playing games with his grandchildren. He
will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Moore; his children, Daniel Moore and daughter-in-law Juliet Tardy
(Anchorage, AK), Lenita Moore and son-in-law Douglas Lobingier (Powell, Wyoming), and Jedediah and
daughter-in-law Tiffany Moore (Littleton, CO); his brothers, George Moore (Cokeville, WY), Steve and
Luci Moore (Cokeville, WY), Joe and Trudy Moore (Lyman, WY), 3 grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenda and George Moore; and his sister, Glenda Nicholas and
several grandchildren including Clayton Lawrence Moore.
