Ruth Sipe Stahn, age 87, passed away on July 15, 2009 at Powell Valley Healthcare.

Ruth was the daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Albert & Anna Rogeness, and was born on July 5, 1922 where they homesteaded on White Bird Creek near Absarokee, Mt. She attended schools at Silesia, Mt and graduated from Billings Senior High School. She met and married Vernon Sipe and had 51 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.

Survivors include her children, Judy (Jerry) Scheafer of Powell, Vernon (Darlene) Sipe of Billings, Doug (Vickie) Sipe of Billings, Anna Marie (Larry)Wood of Colorado Springs, CO. and her eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and her special niece, Jo Anne Mundy.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, two brothers, her first husband Vernon, and her second husband Jack Stahn.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother and delighted in family gatherings, the last of which was her 87th birthday just 10 days before her death. She also loved her church family and became attached to the caretakers from Hands-to-Help.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and visitation will be Tuesday, July 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home for friends and family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 11:00 AM at New Life Church in Powell, 8th & Gilbert Streets, with Pastor Clyde Seifert of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Reception to follow services, and burial will be at Rockvale Cemetery 3:00 PM following reception.

Memorials can be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Hands to Help, or the charity of your choice.
