Theresa Mary Guinn

Long time Cody, Wyoming resident, Theresa Mary Guinn, died January 4, 2010 in Roosevelt, Utah. She is survived by her brother Leo (Joyce) Gross, her five children Vincent (Judy), Theresa (Dennis), Philip (Vickie), Michael (Cheryl), and Eric. She has twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 2005, and her first-born son, Patrick, in 2006.

Theresa lived a long and fulfilling life. She was born on September 10, 1926, in Denver, Colorado, and was placed in an orphanage until she was adopted at eighteen months by Ora Belle and Cecil Gross. Theresa grew up in Rangely, Colorado, helping her parents and brother run their cattle ranch. Theresa worked as a teacher before she was married. She met Paul Guinn ("Paul T.") as he delivered ice to their ranch, and soon thereafter he asked her out on a date. For their very first date, Theresa brought along the neighbor children as chaperones. She and Paul were married on February 16, 1947, and they lived in Rangely, where they had their first four children. By the fall of 1957, they were transferred with Texaco Oil Company to North Dakota, where Michael was born. By 1964, they moved to Cody, Wyoming, to farm. Eric was born in Cody. Theresa maintained her household, raised a large garden, and also worked for many years at Husky Oil/Marathon Oil Company. She never seemed to tire out as she was constantly on-the-go, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Once Theresa retired, she became extremely active and involved at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic praying the Rosary and attending Mass daily. Theresa volunteered extensively, including bringing weekly Communion to the disabled and incapacitated residents of Cody. After the passing of Paul, Theresa moved to Roosevelt, Utah, to be closer to Vincent and Michael, and their families. She resided at Parkside Manor until she moved to the Villa in 2008.

Theresa was an incredible person. Her thoughtful and charitable nature made her beloved by all. Although her unassuming personality never allowed her to realize it, she radiated goodness her entire life. Theresa never asked for anything herself, and only gave to others. She devoted her life to God, and was a quiet and humble role model for others to follow. Theresa will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and caregivers as her unconditionally gentle, caring and loving disposition was noticed and appreciated by everyone who ever came into contact with her.
