Timothy D. Harvey

(Sept. 12, 1954 - Dec. 2, 2025)

Timothy D. Harvey, born on Sept. 12, 1954, passed away on Dec. 2. A loyal brother, devoted uncle and steadfast friend, he leaves behind a legacy defined by selflessness, generosity, humor and a little bit of an ornery streak.

Tim was born in Powell on Sept. 12, 1954 to Robert and Lucy Harvey, the third of five children. Growing up, Tim loved finding adventure outside with his brothers and sisters, whether they were roaming pastures, exploring along the canals and streams, or inventing mischief only siblings can create. His love of reading was sparked when he picked up the Tarzan series and it began an interest in books that never faded.

After graduating from Powell High School in 1973, Tim began working on drilling rigs, eventually becoming a driller. He later took up welding as an apprentice with Jimmy Cooley, a craft he honed throughout his life. Tim joined Shoshone Irrigation District and later Heart Mountain Irrigation District, where he worked for 24 years before retiring in 2019. He thoroughly enjoyed working outdoors, watching wildlife, and visiting or bantering with the farmers along his route.

Tim was beloved to many who knew him. For his nieces and nephews, he was the fun uncle who could be found doing handstands until the coins fell from his pockets, choosing gifts that gave just the right amount of parental eye roll and encouraging new adventures. To the Heart Mountain community, he was the neighbor who always showed up, whether the situation was urgent or you just needed to borrow a book or movie from his library. To all he called friends, he was the one you could always count on for help and for him to share a story or two. Throughout his life, Tim’s loyalty, selfless nature, stubbornness and love of bib overalls were constants. He gave freely of his time, skills, friendship and anything else he could offer. His steady presence and generosity will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him. He will be greatly missed.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill, and his beloved dogs Partner and Shadow.

He is survived by brother Jim Harvey (Debra) of Casper; sister Helen Crain of Amarillo, Texas; sister Tammy Harvey of Powell; brother-from-another-mother Mark Copenhaver (Ann) of Powell; nieces and nephews Trevor Neumann (Haley), Briana Lucero (Gabe), Erin Harrell (Patrick), Lauren Harvey, Jake Crain (Meagan), Lacy Braswell (Ryan), Caitlin Harvey, Robert Harvey; grandnieces and nephews Kelsey, Lexi, Shaylee, Alana, Raif, Finley, Finn and Augie.

A celebration of life honoring Tim will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the Mountain View Club House, 1001 Road 18, Powell.
