Violet E Boyle

Violet E. Boyle, age 94, of Powell, Wyo., passed away February 24, 2014 at the Powell Valley Care Center after a brief illness.
Vi (as she was known) was born in Steele City, Nebraska on January 9, 1920 to Charles and Minnie (Smith) Hunnicutt. She moved to Whidbey Island, Washington with her family at the age of 3. She then moved to Garland, Wyo. at the age of 6, where she resided with her family and attended school.
At the age of 15 she met Albert Boyle at a dance in Garland. After a brief courtship, Vi and Al were married September 28, 1935. They moved into Powell to make their home. Together, they built their new home on Ave. F in 1946, after Al returned from World War II. Vi remained in that home until 2013 at which time she moved to the Heartland Assisted Living Residence. She then moved to the Powell Valley Care Center. Vi and Al were married for 66 years until Albert passed away in 2002.
Vi was a mother and homemaker her entire life. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, and enjoyed being with her daughters at Girl Scout camps and functions. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, gardening, cooking and baking, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Her girls and friends were the recipients of many of her crafted afghans. She enjoyed working cross-word puzzles in any spare time she found.
She also enjoyed camping, boating and fishing for many years with her family at Buffalo Bill Reservoir, Yellowstone Lake and Jackson Lake in Jackson Hole. She enjoyed following the activities and events of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Powell. She and Al enjoyed many years of retirement in Mesa and Apache Junction, Arizona and St. George, Utah.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband Albert; parents Charles and Minnie Hunnicutt; brothers William, Chester, Delmar, Floyd and Robert Hunnicutt; sisters Grace Cooley and Clara Ann Whitson; an infant son at birth; daughter Bobby Jo Bodle and son-in-law Philip Bodle.
She is survived by daughters, Linda (Bill) Ashby of Powell and Joy (Allen) Cox of Hillsboro, Oregon; grandchildren, Philis Bodle of Washington, David Bodle of Georgia, Chris Ashby and Scott (Kassi) Ashby of Powell, Brian (Gloria) Cox and Jacey Cox of Hillsboro, Oregon; great-grandchildren, Kinsey & KaIli Ashby of Powell, Reyna and Corey Cox of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Landon Bodle of Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Vi's request, no funeral services were held. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were handled by Thompson Funeral Home.
