Obituary

William “Bill” Ronald Rich Jr, 98, of Powell, Wyoming was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on March 14 th , 2026. He was born on September 15 th , 1927 in Thermopolis to William Sr. and Evangeline.

Bill grew up in Thermopolis and had many adventures with his younger brother James before the family moved to Casper where he attended and graduated from Natrona High in 1945. Upon being drafted into the Army in January 1946, he proudly served as a Medical Laboratory Technician while stationed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. Bill was honorably discharged in March of 1947 and returned to Casper where he met the love of his life Beverly Ann Steinman. They married October 5, 1947 and welcomed children Donal 1949 and Patricia 1952.

Bill worked initially at Meadow Gold Dairy before beginning his 41-year tenure with Marathon Oil Co. as a production analyst. Bill and his family moved from Casper to McFadden then to Powell where he has resided since. Upon his retirement from Marathon in 1986, he and his beloved Beverly started galivanting around the country by way of travel trailer. They found a second home in Apachie Jct, AZ where they enjoyed warmer winters for many years.

Bill lived a full and meaningful life as a caring husband, father, grandad, and great- grandad. His love and devotion for his family ran deep. He greatly enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, skiing, reading, and fellowship with friends at church. Bill was also a talented storyteller who could recall many entertaining details of his long and venturesome life.

Bill had a profound love for his Lord and Savior in whom he never lost faith. In 2012 he became a devoted and much-loved member of the Cody Alliance Church. He always trusted that God’s plan and timing was perfect. This brought him much comfort after Beverly’s passing in 2006 and he often said “I look forward to our reunion at the feet of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Bill’s contributions to his family and church as well as his depth of character defined his life story. He was considered a treasure by many and will be missed dearly.

Bill is survived by his son, Donal (Diana) Rich of Blairsville, GA; his daughter, Patricia Bustos of Powell; five grandchildren, Cara, Julie, Jeffry, Lindsey, and Wendy; and nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joaquin, Mason, Esteban, Evangeline, Acacia, Meredith, Broderick, and Beckett.

Services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, August 3, 2026 at Cody Alliance Church. The family encourages those who knew Bill to share their memories on the digital memorial at www.thompsonfuneral.net
