Zachary Sean de Haan died peacefully at Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center in Springfield, Oregon, on Aug. 13, 2016, at the age of 29. Zack was born July 9, 1987, in Cody, and grew up in Powell. He was active in school sports, playing soccer, football and wrestling. He graduated from Powell High School with the Class of 2005. After high school Zack worked various occupations including the oilfield in Gillette, roofing in Powell, pipeline in Sheridan and tire companies in Powell and Billings. In 2013 he moved to Eugene, Oregon, where he worked for Mike Jones Masonry. Zack was described as a hard worker and great hand. He enjoyed camping, fishing, four-wheeling and playing with his many nieces and nephews. Zack was preceded in death by grandfathers Paul de Haan and Lynn Straub, and aunt Deborah de Haan. He is survived by his mother Patricia (Jerry) Johnson; father Rudolph de Haan; sisters Christy Tharp and Jessica (Thomas) Watts; brother Rudy de Haan; grandparents Sigurd and Wanda Kvia, Nettie Straub, Mary de Haan; uncles Mike Kvia, Pete (Cathy) de Haan; aunts Karen (Jerry) Dietrich, all of Powell; and aunts Debbie Kvia of Billings and Henny (David) Newton of Worland. Zack is also survived by cousins Amy Kvia, Mike Kvia, Lacee (Michael) Hooper, all of Powell; Joslyn Dietrich of Cheyenne; Derrick de Haan of Baker, Montana; Greg Kern of Cody; Marcie (Travis) Netzer of Surprise, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at New Life Church, 185 South Tower Boulevard, Powell, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. Following services, there will be a luncheon at the Elks Lodge, 581 North Clark St. in Powell.
